Lolcat humour aside, it seems we’re back to thinking about the meaning of our existence a lot these days. I don’t mean the philosophical namby pamby stuff Jordan might chatter about (mad props to our lawyer buddy), but the selfish state of wondering what the heck WE should do with the rest of our time on Earth. Internets, I’m just going to toss this right out there, but once Matt finishes his PhD (which he totally should because he’s a very smart cookie), that asshole needs to do film studies. It’s really what he’s passionate about, and maybe he can combine science and movies and make some documentaries or something. David Suzuki is old. Really old. There should be a place in the world for a Canadian-science documentary-guy any day now.
Occasionally someone sends us an email or responds to our twitter posts and we get so excited it’s ridiculous. I know the website is silly and trivial, but it is a good time. A really good time. It’s self indulgent and completely inane and totally unprofessional and I love it to pieces. I was totally serious when I told people in a not-so-recent podcast that I would make them t-shirts and I still intend to. My life is a total disaster these days (whose isn’t, amirite?) but I am going to create Patchy Tees. I shake my fist to the heavens and decree it. Because I want to spread the love to anyone who actually wastes several of their otherwise useful hours on us and our shenanigans.

We have a binder at my lab bench that is full of ideas. Ideas for short films, future podcasts, stupid commercials, the plot for an entire children’s space novel... {editor's note: I honestly think the kid's novel trilogy is one of our best ideas}. And I don’t know what to say about it. Sure, most of the ideas are stupid. Most of the ideas don’t make a lot of sense. None of them are practical. So why do we keep adding more? We’re desperate for a creative outlet that science doesn’t provide and our hobbies don’t seem to feed. We read a lot of books, watch a lot of movies, and troll a lot of websites. But it so much more fun to write our own blogs, plan our own shorts, and keep this crappy website full of eberyfing we feel like. Plus, I’ve also decided that Matt is now Simon Pegg and I’m Nick Frost. Let’s make a crazy movie!
