You might not know who this amazing woman is. If I say Lord of the Rings, something might come to mind, a kind of itchy thought scabbed over in a folded recess of your brain. Scratch it, and you might remember Return of the King Oscar winners and from there, it should all come together. Because Fran is a screenwriter and film producer, and she’s married to another hero of mine, Peter Jackson.
We love horror movies, so it’s no big surprise that this power couple is exciting. They are responsible for Braindead, or Dead Alive, and The Frighteners. Rumour has it, our own Edmonton horror festival will be showing their strange, black comedy Meet the Feebles this year (so thrilled to see it finally!). It’s going to be disturbingly wonderful I’m sure.
Now, Fran is also an amazing musician and she was in a punk band in New Zealand. Hells yes! A woman after my own heart. She has an English degree and has pursued her dream of turning writing into a career with phenomenal success as a screenwriter. Also, isn’t she super sexy? I think Mary-Louise Parker could play her in a movie. We should all be so lucky.

I never did see the Frighteners, but I remembered it as soon as you mentioned it ("That was that one with Michael J. Fox in it right? Yup!"). It looked interesting.
